Art Talk – Aiden Ruddle aka ‘SNZ’

Snzlmzlogo

Aiden ‘SNZ’ Ruddle was born in 1997 and hails from Queensland, Australia. A self confessed computer game and skateboarding nut, Aiden’s current work can be divided between his clean, technical creations – often turned into patches, stickers, t shirts and the like – and his free flowing, liquid like creations.

Both aspects of Aiden’s art could also be readily assigned to his interests: skateboarding for his free flowing works, and the digital realm of computers for his clean designs. All of which hint at the pop culture landscape that Aiden has been immersed in: The Simpsons, slime, pixel art, Pokemon, weed culture and Big Daddy Roth to name but a few.

Art Talk – Amy ‘Bean’ Hanks

Amy Bean - Logo - 001

Australian artist Amy Bean first came to the attention of Art Whore thanks to the ‘Any Thing Goes‘ group show from early 2015 and has been wowing our eyes ever since.

Amy gained her initial formal art experience working as a screen printer in her late teens, and today creates vibrant works with a tongue in cheek feminine attitude – weird eyes, pastel colours, gore and lots of swears.

Art Talk – ‘Moon Lagoon’

Byron - Art 010 Version 2

‘Moon Lagoon’ is the nom de plume of a young Australian artist working with the mediums of photography, street art and fashion. Creating works with chaotic perfection, often portraying scenes of violence, nihilism, angst – and importantly, humor.

Having initially worked on paper, graffiti has been a constant love and source of release for ‘Moon Lagoon’, stating;

Riding the trains in Sydney was a pivotal moment for me, art wise. I was glued to the window watching the graffiti as we sped past, I couldn’t get enough of it.

Seeing those hundreds of tags and pieces and throw ups filling every space gave me this joy I had never felt before, the walls were just so alive with energy…

It was all just so mesmerising and raw

Art Talk – Ross Radiation of ‘Radiation Art’

Ross Radiation - Wallpaper 001

Australian artist Ross Radiation’s work is evocative of the pop art and comic book greats, yet imbued with it’s own aesthetic: hyper color, bold lines, ooze, seemingly drunk / drugged out eyes and immensely powerful women.

Ross gained his initial artistic foothold via his work in the 1990’s Australian underground comic scene – a time of beer, bongs, flannel, rock n roll and no internet. During this time Ross worked and befriended fellow Australian luminaries such as Glenn ‘Glenno’ Smith, Anton Emdin, Stu Stratu and Louise Graber.

Today Ross works as an artist and freelancer in both traditional and digital art to a loyal and ever growing legion of fans and admirers.

Indeed, Snaw sums up his approach to graffiti and getting up as:

I was more inspired by the ‘zorro’ approach to graff.

I like the mystery, i don’t really socialise with other writers i prefer to get in, paint, get a flick, add it to the pile, move on to the next one.”

Graffiti is like a game you can never win, but it’s fun along the way.

You’ll never be the most prolific writer, there’s always someone who gets up harder than you.
