Art Talk – Tony Papesh

Tony Papesh - self portrait 003

Mr. Tony Papesh is an American artist who began his life adventure of creation from the genesis of being a bed-ridden sickly child. A child with a very active imagination, ample time on his hands, and the raw talent needed to turn his mind to art!

Today Tony’s art is respected world wide for it’s unique style, technical brilliance, and gloop. Lots of gloop. All imbued with that 1970’s patchouli freak scene – beer, psychedelics, denim and weirdos.

Interestingly, Tony is also a skilled digital technician – with his art being used for DJ Shadow’s 2011 LP ‘The Less You Know, the Better’.

With lots in the works from Tony, and a unique world view, now is the perfect time to get to know Tony the man and artist, by reading the Art Talk interview below….

Shop Talk – Benny Kline of ‘Tenacious Toys’

Benny Kline - pic 002

Mr. Benny Kline of ‘Tenacious Toys‘ outta New York, USA is one of the many gods – most likely Thor – in the pantheon of the art-toy and new-pop-art spheres. A man who does all that he can both privately, and publicly to promote, grow and nurture the new pop art scene on a global level.

I could not think of any person more apt to be the first Shop Talk for ‘Art Whore‘.

Why? For all the reasons above, and because Benny is a man constantly living out his personal motto:

Learn, evolve, reach. Do it all yourself. Don’t quit.

Art Talk – ‘Killer Bootlegs’ + Peter ‘Wheatstraw’ Goral

Killer Bootlegs - logo

Well these last few years i have gotten into the seedy, degenerate world of bootleg-action-figures-as-art. “WTF?” I hear you say… Well… BASICALLY dudes collage existing action figures, into ‘new’ art-pieces. How? By taking apart existing action figures, casting the necessary ‘parts’ wanted, adding a bit of extra sculpting to the casted parts, then BAM! A new ‘bootleg’ art piece is created. Simple to do, BUT damn hard to do well.

Once of the best in the game is KILLER BOOTLEGS, run by Peter ‘Wheatstraw’ Goral outta Loves Park, Illinois, USA.

To this end i shot Peter some questions to try to peel back the psyche and process involved in being a degenerate, underground toy-bootlegger.
